About the teacher.
No stranger to the Myrtle Beach area, Sean O’Malley now calls the Grand Strand Home. Originally from New York, Sean has always been enthralled by all things music and theatre. Sean graduated with his Master's degree in Music from Louisiana State University. While in Baton Rouge, Sean was a Graduate assistant to LSU Opera and the School of Music.
A performer well versed in both Opera and Musical Theater, he has been seen in performances in both the Northeast and South East regions in the United States and Costa Rica. He was most recently seen on stage at Vero Beach Opera as Fiorello in Rossini's "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" and was preparing the role of Fabrizio Naccarelli in Adam Guettel's "The Light in The Piazza" as a guest artist at Coastal Carolina University before the COVID-19 shut down.
Sean has been teaching private voice and piano for nearly a decade, and seeks to help students from beginners to professionals to achieve their performing goals; whether that’s preparing a role, for auditions, for college applications- Sean has worked with a plethora of students who can be seen on stages throughout the United States and Europe. In addition to teaching privately, Sean is the musical theatre, piano, and choir teacher at Carolina Forest High School and loves getting to inspire new generations of musicians to develop their skills in preparation for a career in professional theatre or music.
When not at school, Sean is a free lance Music Director, and has music directed shows such as William Finn’s “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”, Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story”, and Disney's "Newsies". Sean has also had the privilege of directing church choirs in South Carolina as well as serving as a section leader at multiple churches throughout New York, Louisiana, and Florida. Currently, Sean serves as the Director of Music Ministry at Shepherd of The Sea Lutheran Church in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina where he directs multiple ensembles one oversees the Music for the church.
